Response of company to effects of business plan
Management provided the following:

Generous redundancy package negotiated with employee representatives;

Job Centres to assist employees in the transition period;

9.5 million Euros (in addition to redundancy package) funding was put in place to assist employees and communities affected by job losses.

Initial Job Centres plan
The company appointed a manager to oversee the establishment of the Job Centres. A review of existing practice of providing supports to employees was undertaken but there was little relevant experience to go on.
The initial plan envisaged the establishment of six Job Centres.
Objectives of Job Centres
The objectives set for the Job Centres were:

To assist individuals who would be relocated to a new position in the group;

To facilitate individuals who were interested in taking redundancy to:

get a new position;

become self-employed;

retire.

Setting up the Job Centres
Following a review, it was decided to for operational reasons to proceed with two Job Centres (one in Dungarvan and the other in Dublin).

A manager and full-time administrative support was provided to each Centre which were equipped with a dedicated office, meeting rooms and training facilities.

Budgets and standards were developed and put in place.

Services provided by the Job Centres
The following services were provided by the Job Centres:

Ensuring that the availability of Voluntary Redundancy was understood;

Arranging for the Voluntary Redundancy calculations to be supplied to individuals who were eligible for redundancy;

Provision of advice on Income Tax, Pensions and Investment.

Services that were provided internally within the centres included:

Career advice

• Re-deployment within Glanbia;

• Job search;

• Start your own business;

• Retirement.

Job search advice:

• CV preparation;

• Letters of application;

• Interview preparation;

• Administration support.

Services which were provided by external organisations included:

Career Advice

• Outplacement Consultants;

• Tax Advice;

• Start your own business advice;

• Retirement Advice.

Job Search advice

• State agencies;

• Recruitment firms.
